Bobi Wine: “I Wasn’t Safe At Nsambya Hospital, I Will Get Further Treatment From Home”

Robert Kyagulanyi, widely known as Bobi Wine, was discharged from Nsambya Hospital yesterday after what he described as a “brutal attack” by the police, followed by a series of alleged harassment incidents by security operatives during his hospital stay.

Wine, a prominent opposition leader and musician, was admitted to the hospital following an incident yesterday in which he claimed to have been violently attacked by police. While he was receiving treatment at Nsambya Hospital, security operatives reportedly arrived and began intimidating the medical staff, demanding access to his medical records.

According to Wine, several attempts were made by these operatives to force their way into his treatment room, but they were stopped by his supporters who had gathered at the hospital. In addition, Wine claimed that all roads leading to Nsambya Hospital were blocked by security personnel, causing severe disruption to hospital traffic and potentially endangering other patients.

Despite undergoing minor surgery to remove foreign objects from his leg, Wine decided to leave the hospital earlier than expected. He stated that his decision was made to ensure his safety and to avoid causing further inconvenience and intimidation to other patients at the hospital.

“I decided to return home prematurely today for the sake of my safety, and out of consideration for other patients at Nsambya Hospital who do not deserve the inconvenience and intimidation,” Wine said in a statement. He indicated that he would continue his treatment from home.

The incident has further heightened tensions between Wine and Ugandan authorities, adding to the ongoing political unrest in the country. Bobi Wine extended his gratitude to his supporters for their continued solidarity, promising to speak out about the events soon.

“We will soon speak out,” Wine assured his supporters.

This episode marks another chapter in the ongoing confrontation between Bobi Wine and the Ugandan government, as the political atmosphere in the country remains highly charged.
