Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, after a tear gas canister allegedly struck the politician on Tuesday, injuring his left leg.

In his statement, Mayiga wished Bobi Wine a swift recovery and urged the police and military to exercise greater caution in executing their duties, warning that such actions could “throw the country into danger.”

The politician, also a musician and leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), is said to have undergone an operation to remove the fragments. His spokesperson, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi, confirmed that Bobi Wine had indeed been shot at, a statement supported by several eyewitness accounts.

However, the Uganda Police have categorically denied the allegations, claiming that Kyagulanyi simply “stumbled” while entering his car, which caused the injury to his leg. The police narrative has stirred up a storm of differing opinions across the nation, with some Ugandans rallying behind the police’s version, while others are convinced that Bobi Wine was targeted.

To add fuel to the fire, a video recorded at the scene is making the rounds on social media, appearing to show Kyagulanyi being hit by a tear gas canister. The footage, which has quickly gone viral, has only heightened the skepticism surrounding the police’s official report.
