Ukrainian Top Gun Major Vadym Voroshylov, 30, call sign Karaya, is the highly decorated Hero of Ukraine who was leading the mission.

The advanced precision weapons were shown being loaded onto his MiG-29.

He is seen flying on a mission to drop GBU-62 JDAM-ER glide bombs, jointly developed by Boeing and Australia’s Defence Science and Technology Organisation.

Ukraine’s ability to use air power has been vital to its incursion into Kursk.

Bridges and pontoon crossings over the Seim River in the Kursk region have been destroyed in a series of strikes this month by Ukrainian pilots, so preventing Russia from ousting Kyiv’s forces from its territory.

The footage was released by the Ukrainian Air Force with the message: “Precision strike, objective control, and thanks from the commander.

“And this happens every day! Relentlessly and selflessly.”

Voroshylov is known for his successful missions during the war against Russian aggression.

Soon after the war started he destroyed Russian drones and missiles during air combat.

He also successfully ejected after his MiG-29 aircraft was shot down in December 2022 while performing a combat mission.

Despite securing the “thanks from the commander”, the release of this footage coincided with the abrupt firing of Ukrainian’s air force chief Mykola Oleshchuk, 52, by president Volodymyr Zelensky.

His ousting appears related to the loss of Ukraine’s first Western-supplied F-16.

There has been swirling speculation in Kyiv that the warplane was shot down in a friendly fire incident by a Ukrainian Patriot air defence missile.

An investigation involving the United States is now underway.

F-16 pilot Lt-Col Oleksii Mes, 31, call sign Moonfish, was killed as he was on a mission repelling a massive Russian missile and kamikaze drone strike this week.

He used his Western-supplied plane to destroy three Russian cruise missiles and one UAV before his plane crashed.

He did not have time to eject.

Oleshchuk had sharply criticised a Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezugla – in Volodymyr Zelensky’s party – who had accused the military of a cover-up over the incident which she said did involve a Patriot.

“The truth will win,” she posted on X shortly after the Zelensky dismissal order was published.

The president said: “We need to protect people. Protect personnel. Take care of all our soldiers.”

Earlier this month, Ukrainian special forces blew another bridge pieces using US-made missiles.

Incredible footage shows a series of attacks with Himars rockets in Russia‘s border region.

According to Kyiv, important Russian equipment was destroyed along with Vlad’s bridges.

Video also showed Ukrainian Defence Forces demolishing Russian field munitions, fuel depots, a radio-electronic warfare complex, and a 152-mm D-20 gun, a Ukrainian military officer told the Kyiv Post.
