A short clip of Shakira has gone viral online. In it, she appears to storm off stage after trying to dance during a dance performance to her new single.

In the shocking video, the singer could be seen constantly adjusting her dress while cautioning people in the audience to stop filming under her dress.

The incident comes after Shakira opened up about her tax woes with the Spanish treasury, which forced her to pay almost $8 million to avoid jail.

In the video making the rounds online, Shakira was called onto a stage to dance to her latest single, "Soltera."

However, while dancing and hyping up the crowd, the singer noticed cameras in the crowd, seemingly filming up her skirt.

This prompted her to stop dancing and address the people in the audience about the incident. Shakira then proceeded to dance again but eventually walked off stage not long after due to the intrusive moment.

Fellow Latin singer Anitta was also at the event at the DJ's stand. As Shakira came down from the stage, Anitta could be seen asking her if she was doing okay.

While it's unclear exactly what happened, it was certainly best for the singer to leave the stage. The height of the platform on which she was standing, coupled with her short dress, was a recipe for disaster.

The Video Has Sparked An Intense Debate Online Over What Happened

A clip of the video shared on X (formerly Twitter) has already gotten over 16.3 million views and almost 100,000 likes.

Several fans responded to the post, showing support for the singer and condemning the people at the event for making Shakira feel "uncomfortable."

A person wrote, "That's just beyond gross. Shakira had every right to walk off, no one should have to deal with that kind of disrespect, especially when she's just out there performing her music. People need to learn how to act with basic decency!"

Another said, "It's wild how some guys can single-handedly turn a great experience into a total cringe-fest with their creepy vibes."

However, several online have explained that no one, in particular, was intentionally filming up the singer's dress and that being on the elevated stage with the outfit she had on was the issue.

Someone noted, "What are you talking about? There were just a whole bunch of people filming her. Maybe she realized they were below her so... Doesn't mean they were actually trying to film under her dress."

Another wrote, "They're just recording her performing. They will do the exact same thing if she were wearing a space suit. It's not their fault she wore that to dance on an elevated stage."

Shakira Says She Was 'Publicly Burned At The Stake' Over Tax Issues

The recent outing comes after Shakira revealed she felt unfairly hounded by the Spanish government over her tax issues.

She was embroiled in a legal row with Spanish authorities after they accused her of committing six counts of tax fraud in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

After paying a substantial £6.4 million [$8 million] fine and admitting to the wrongdoing, the "Hips Don't Lie" singer accused the Spanish treasury of "publicly burning her at the stake" like a witch during their investigation.

"It may seem incomprehensible, but for me, the Spanish decade was a financially lost decade, and not because I worked little, as everyone knows," she said, per the Daily Mail.

The singer continued, "I gave 120 concerts in 90 different cities. How can a person who gives 120 concerts lose money? It sounds strange, I know, but today my assets consist of what I earned before arriving in Spain and what I earned after leaving it. Everything I earned in those years went to the Spanish State."

Shakira Says She Settled The Case For The Sake Of Her Kids

Shakira, who had repeatedly denied wrongdoing, said she settled "with the best interest of my kids at heart."

"Things are not solved by burning a public figure every year at the stake as if it were a process of the Inquisition to recover lost prestige," she said in her emotional letter. "I want to leave my children the legacy of a woman who explained her reasons calmly and in her own time, when she considered it necessary, not when she was forced to do so."

"I need them to know that I made the decisions I made to protect them, to be by their side and move on with my life. Not out of cowardice or guilt," she added.

The singer opened up about putting her career on hold to focus on building a family with her ex-partner, Pique.

According to the "La Totura" hitmaker, she channeled the pain she felt from that period in her life into her new album, "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran."

"There were so many pieces of my life that crumbled in front of my eyes and I had to rebuild myself in a way, picking up the bones from the floor and putting them all together," Shakira told The Sunday Times. "And the glue that kept it all together was music."

She added, "For a long time I put my career on hold, to be next to Gerard, so he could play football. There was a lot of sacrifice for love."

Shakira has since moved on from the soccer player and is now dating British actor, Lucien Laviscount.
