"I don't want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way," Patrick Mahomes said on Wednesday.
  • Donald Trump has been all praise for Brittany Mahomes.
  • But her husband, Patrick, says he isn't endorsing any presidential candidates for this election.
  • "I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote," he told reporters on Wednesday.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes says he isn't endorsing any presidential candidates this election.

"I've always said I don't want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way," Mahomes told reporters ahead of a practice session on Wednesday.

"I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote. It's to inform people to do their own research and then make their best decision for them and their family," he added.

Mahomes' position sets him apart from his wife, Brittany.

The former soccer player was heavily criticized after she briefly liked and then unliked an Instagram post by former President Donald Trump on the "2024 GOP platform."

To be sure, Brittany Mahomes hasn't formally endorsed Trump. She did, however, hit back at her critics, calling them "haters" with "deep rooted issues" in an earlier Instagram story.

Still, that hasn't stopped Trump from expressing his gratitude to her.

"I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on September 4.

"It is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM."

Mahomes, however, says he is determined to stay above the political fray. The star quarterback told reporters on Wednesday that he wasn't affected by Trump's praise for Brittany.

"It's in the political times, people are going to use stuff here and there. But I can't let that affect how I go about my business every single day and live my life and try to live it to the best of my ability," Mahomes said.

And on Wednesday, Trump called Brittany Mahomes a "big MAGA fan" during an interview with the Fox News' morning show, "'Fox & Friends."

The praise came after Trump was asked about Taylor Swift's endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.

"Well, I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She's a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan," Trump said on Wednesday.

"I like Brittany. I think Brittany's great. Brittany got a lot of news last week. She's a big MAGA fan. That's the one I like much better than Taylor Swift."

Swift, who is currently dating Patrick's Kansas City Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce, has often been seen hanging out with Brittany Mahomes during Chiefs' games.

On Sunday, the pop star was photographed hugging the quarterback's wife while attending the US Open.

Representatives for Trump and Harris didn't immediately respond to a request for comment sent outside regular business hours.
