The Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, has issued a stern warning to Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and Resident City Commissioners (RCCs), calling on them to improve their conduct, both in their official duties and personal presentation, to safeguard the integrity of the President and the government.

During a high-level meeting held yesterday in Maya, Hon. Babalanda emphasized the importance of professionalism in the execution of their duties, stressing that RDCs, RCCs and their assistants are representatives of the President. She told them to ensure their dressing code reflects the dignity of their office and their responsibility to the nation. According to the Minister, their appearance should exemplify the standards expected from leaders tasked with overseeing government programs across the country.

In her address, Hon. Babalanda also issued a strong warning against corruption, particularly bribery, which has been a longstanding issue in the country’s civil service. She promised that her office would take decisive action against any commisioner found guilty of engaging in corrupt practices. “We will not hesitate to apprehend anyone caught in bribery. Corruption tarnishes the image of the government and undermines the trust that citizens have in us,” she said.

Further, the Minister urged the commissioners to focus on promoting and implementing government programs in their districts, ensuring their success. She reminded them that the fulfillment of campaign promises made by President Yoweri Museveni during the last elections rests in part on their ability to oversee and drive these initiatives to completion. She emphasized that the effective delivery of services and development programs is critical to maintaining public confidence in the government.

The meeting comes at a time when the government is focusing on bolstering the performance of its representatives in the field to meet the expectations of the citizens and ensure continued support for the NRM government. Hon. Babalanda’s remarks highlighted the weight of responsibility the commisioners carry in ensuring that the President’s agenda is implemented without fail.

The Minister concluded by encouraging the commissioners to be role models in their districts, serving with integrity, diligence, and commitment to the welfare of all Ugandans.
