Mega Man Joins the Fun in the Funko Fusion Demo

Alongside its already stacked roster of characters from iconic movie, TV and video game franchises, developers 10:10 games recently announced that Mega Man, every ones favorite Blue Bomber is joining the fandom-filled fun in Funko Fusion. On September 13th, players will be able to blast enemies with Mega Man’s aptly named Mega Blaster (which if unlocked will be available to use for all characters) as well as swatting bad guys away with his large blue holographic fists.

Fortunately, players won’t need to wait until September 13th to get their hands on the video game icon, as Mega Man is now available to play in the free to download Funko Fusion demo on Steam. In the demo, players can play through the first level of John Carpenters 1982 horror classic The Thing. Players can solve puzzles, fight off Norwegian soldiers, and rescue 6 adorable Huskie’s as either McReady, Nauls, Childs, and M.T. Gary from the respective franchise. Alongside these four characters, players will be able find He-Man (Masters of the Universe), Freddy Fazbear (Five Nights at Freddy’s), and of course Mega Man as playable characters giving players just a taste of the endless mashup possibilities Funko Fusion promises.

Funko Fusion is a third person action shooter that allows players to play as over 60 characters from 20 different franchises in this huge festival of fandom. Solve puzzles, collect vinyl (the games in-game currency), and defeat enemies and bosses from some of your favorite franchises. Described by Arthur Parsons, the company co-founder and publishing boss, “players will celebrate their favorite movies and TV series across a wide range of more than 20 franchises: from blockbuster movies like Jurassic World, Jaws, Back to the Future, The Thing, Shaun of the Dead, and Chucky, to hit TV series such as Battlestar Galactica, The Umbrella Academy, and Masters of the Universe, and many more.”

Based on a few early impressions Funko Fusion looks to borrow a lot of the charm and similar gameplay mechanics as the Lego games from Travellers Tales (TT Games). Which makes sense considering that many ex-Travellers Tales employee’s are now apart of 10:10 Games. Including CEO and Creative Director Jon Burton who previously founded Travellers Tales as well as his co-founder Arthur Parsons.

However, while there is a lot of similarities between Funko Fusion and the beloved Lego Games, Funko Fusions is set to target a much older demographic. Funko Fusion is filled with buckets of cartoon violence, and profanity which isn’t surprising considering the many adult themed franchises the game is borrowing from. Franchises like The Thing, M3gan, Invincible, Jaws, Childs Play, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead all authentically come with the blood, gore, horror and profanity from their respective franchises.

Funko Fusion is set to release on PS5, XBox Series X|S and PC on September 13th, with the game releasing on PS4 and the Nintendo Switch November 15th. Pre-order now to get access to Rick Grimes and Michonne from The Walking Dead franchise along with an alternate costume for each.
