The terrifying scene unfolded at Alcudia’s Hidropark on the holiday island around 4pm Monday.

The boy is said to have knocked his head on the water slide leaving him unresponsive 1.5m under the water at the bottom of the ride.

The dangerous ride is named the ‘Kamikaze’ – after the WW2 Japanese pilots who flew their planes at targets in suicide crashes.

Spanish media hailed lifeguards as heroes for their “rescuing” the youngster from the water.

But a UK nurse from East Lothian, Scotland, rubbished their claims after having to save the lad herself.

The 32-year-old mum of three told The Sun: “The waterpark staff didn’t pull him out of the water.

“It was me who revived him. The staff were totally incompetent.

“One Spanish man was in the water desperately trying to get their attention.

“He had to try four times before they even noticed.”

Shockingly, she claimed lifeguards at the scene were just “rubbing his chest” instead of performing proper CPR.

She went on: “Someone even said it looked like the boy was having a fit.

“I ran over and they were just rubbing his chest. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

“These people clearly had no first aid training whatsoever.”

After taking the reigns, the nurse claimed the lad began coughing up water and mucus but still remained unresponsive.

He was whisked off to hospital and is currently in critical condition.

She went on to slam the “inexperienced” team of lifeguards – most of whom she claimed were young students working summer jobs.

“They did help the man get him out. But they didn’t have control of the situation.

“Their incident response was absolutely shambolic.

“They weren’t ready to respond.”

She has now pledged to lay a complaint.

An ambulance transferred the boy to Son Espases hospital in Palma.

Due to the seriousness of the Brit’s condition, the Civil Guard put in a “green alert” where different patrols cut off traffic at the main intersections so the ambulance could get through freely.

The waterpark has been approached for comment.
